VERA is a Mac app that works offline. Your footage never leaves your computer. VERA doesn't upload it, process it remotely, or see it. VERA only reaches the internet for two things: to validate your license key, and to check for app updates. Neither one sends your footage, your file names, or anything VERA learns about your media.
Nothing about your footage or files. VERA reads your camera cards and writes to your drives — all locally, on your machine, with no data leaving your computer in the process.
When you activate a license, VERA contacts Lemon Squeezy's servers to verify the key. That check sends your license key and a machine identifier — no footage, no file names, no personal details beyond what's needed to confirm the license is valid.
VERA checks for new versions by contacting its software update feed on GitHub, and downloads an update when one is available. Like any web request, that involves ordinary network metadata such as your IP address and the app version. It never sends your footage, file names, hashes, or the verification reports VERA generates. Those always stay on your machine.
Checkout and billing are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. When you buy VERA, you're paying through Lemon Squeezy's checkout — they collect and process your payment information under their own privacy policy. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made; we do not receive or store your card number, billing address, or payment credentials.
To run and measure our Instagram and Facebook ads, veraoffload.com uses the Meta Pixel (from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram). It sets cookies and shares standard web data, such as your IP address and the pages you view, with Meta. We use it to see which ads bring people here and to show VERA to people likely to find it useful. This is about the website only. It has nothing to do with the app, and it never touches your footage, file names, hashes, or reports, which stay on your machine.
If you'd rather not be tracked, you can block it with your browser's tracking protection, an ad blocker, or your Meta ad preferences. Blocking it has no effect on downloading or using VERA.
To measure our Google Search ads, the site also uses the Google tag (gtag.js) for Google Ads conversion measurement. When you arrive from a Google ad, it sets cookies and shares standard web data, such as your IP address and the pages you view, with Google, so we can tell which ads lead to a download click. Same boundaries as above: this is about the website only, it has nothing to do with the app, and it never touches your footage, file names, hashes, or reports. You can block it the same way, or opt out in your Google ad settings.
The site is hosted on Vercel, which may retain standard aggregate server request logs (IP addresses, timestamps, URLs accessed) as part of normal infrastructure operation. These logs are not used for personal profiling and are subject to Vercel's privacy policy.
The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless page-view counter served by the same infrastructure that hosts the site. It records anonymized visits and the pages viewed. It sets no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across other sites.
VERA has no user accounts — you don't sign up, you don't log in. We don't sell, trade, or rent your information to anyone. There's nothing to sell.
We don't retain personal data. Lemon Squeezy retains purchase records under their own policy. Vercel retains standard server logs per their own policy.
